I know its been an incredibly long time since I have posted something here or even taken five minutes to sit down and journal. Its easier to journal in one's head while driving around for work than to take the time out of my day of school or evening of relaxation. But I also realize it gives me nothing to look back on and nothing to share with others...
With that being said. The beginning of this year has confronted my little family with some pretty big health problems of close friends of ours and even of myself over the last few weeks. As I listen to the stories of these two individuals and their families and then my own encounter with poor health... it has touched my core being. Kind of like believing "it" won't happen to you, therefore there is no fear of "it" or recognition of how precious life is.
These two individuals, one I know personally, and the other who is a friend of a friend, they both have strong relationships with God. The one individual is having to completely relearn how to do the simple tasks of movement like holding onto a pen or sitting up in bed. The other is the family of a young teen who is having significant problems finding a diagnosis and is watching their child be wracked with pain, discomfort, and continually encountering one problem after another. Yet while these families are struggling with such significant health problems, I see them continually praising God, counting on his blessings and healing, and being so courageous. Its awe inspiring. It really is. First of all, it puts into perspective how much I myself have been blessed and even though I am struggling with my own health issues including stubborn depression, I realize that I could have things a lot worse. Secondly, it has somehow made me realize how truly faithful God really is. And that the promises he makes to be there with us through the storms, that he will never leave us, and that he come to bring us life and life to its fullest - those promises are still very much present when we encounter life's "junk" so to speak.
I am really not sure what I am trying to say... but I guess I am become to realize how present God really is. He is EVERYWHERE. and as I start to discover this in the core of my being, in my heart and not just in knowledge, it is bringing with it so much amazement and peace. I can believe in my heart of hearts the promises that I have written on my wall above my computer....
Have Faith - God's love will carry you through any storm
Where God guides He provides (from Isaiah 43:2-4)
God is only a prayer away
Have Courage
and as a wise friend once told me... "The will of God will never take you where His spirit will not sustain you"
